Getting started with Posture Plus

Help · Getting started · Updated November 2, 2026

Posture Plus uses the motion sensors in your AirPods to notice when your head tips forward toward a screen, and gives you a gentle nudge when it stays there.

What you need

One of these, connected to your iPhone:

  • AirPods Pro (all generations)
  • AirPods Max
  • AirPods (3rd and 4th generation)
  • Beats Fit Pro

Allow Motion & Fitness

The first time you set up the app, iOS asks for Motion & Fitness access. Posture Plus needs it to read your head angle from your AirPods. Your motion data stays on your iPhone.

If you said no, turn it on in the iPhone Settings app › Posture Plus › Motion & Fitness.

Calibrate your neutral position

Sit tall, relax your shoulders and look straight ahead at eye level, then hold still for three seconds. Every angle after that is measured from this position.

Recalibrate any time you change chairs, desks or how you sit: Settings › Recalibrate neutral position.

Run your first session

On Home, tap Start session. While a session runs, Posture Plus tracks how long you spend below your nudge angle and nudges you when you drift. Pause or end the session whenever you like.

Sessions shorter than five seconds aren't saved.

Set a daily goal

Your goal is the time you want to spend in good posture each day. The Today card on Home shows your progress. Change it in Settings › Daily goal.
